In 2000, J. Markopulos achieved worldwide recognition for his
revolutionary new system YDROSTAS®a system combining solar energy, renewable energy,
biomass, desalination, and distillation. This ground-breaking method produces "rain
water" from the sea using a natural distillation method with combined additional
advantage of heat recovery. YDROSTAS® has already been honoured with an EU prize and
sponsoring for the first research plant. This desalination method works equally well with
conventional forms of energy as well as with any type of renewable energy source such as
energy from the sun, wind, waste recycling, geothermic energy etc.
The fresh water is produced without the need for chemical additives and
without harming the environment.
Desalination by means of the "Markopulos heat recovery
system" leads to a pure, neutral (pH 7) product of "rain water" quality
which contains no salt and which is completely free of bacteria and other microorganisms
as well as other substances. Hence, no pre- or after-treatment is necessary.
The water obtained is suitable for all household uses and even as
drinking water.
